Although the first screening of David Byrne’s Green Light Cinema “American Utopia”Is sold out, the St. Pete Theater has added another screening at 7:30 pm on Saturday, September 19.

The Spike Lee Seal is a live recording of Byrne’s Broadway show hit festivals last fall before airing on HBO Max and has now arrived in theaters for mostly one-off screenings.

Byrne’s “American Utopia” Tour hits the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, just one four-minute bike ride far, in September 2018.

“Utopia” falls into this “Is this a TV movie or a movie film?” modern media dilemma and was nominated for “Best Documentary Film” in the festival circuit. He also recently won two Emmy Awards, including “Outstanding Achievement for a Special Variety” for Lee.

Green light at 221 2nd avenue North, still operates with limited capacity, so if you miss a ticket for the Saturday screening, the movie is still available to watch on HBO. It’s definitely worth watching it on the big screen at full volume.
