RLJE Films has acquired the North American rights of Concourse Media at Sales title of the Cannes Market and YA dystopia science fiction I am mortal.
Sean Gunn, Eloise Smyth, Abraham Lewis, Nina Kiri and John Harlan Kim star in the film, which takes place 200 years into the future, when the human race achieved immortality through a genetic vaccine and all wars, violence and crimes have been eradicated.
However, behind the facade of utopian society, a small band of rebels are plotting to overthrow the status quo and reclaim the right to die. RLJE is planning a day and date release later this year
Tony Aloupis has written and directed science fiction, and the producers are Origin Entertainment James T. Volk and Cory Neal of Yellow Barrels. Origin Entertainment CEO Dick Lyles and Peter Block of Yellow Barrels are executive producers.
“The film portrays a distorted view of the future that seems oddly possible,” said Mark Ward, director of acquisitions at RLJE Films. “The film takes you on a rebellious journey of fighting for what is right despite the odds that we think audiences will really appreciate.”
Matthew Shreder’s Concourse Media represents the remaining global rights and will continue virtual discussions with Cannes buyers
