No Time to Die UK ticket presales biggest since Avengers: Endgame

No Time to Die’s advanced ticket sales in the UK are the largest in the country since Avengers: Endgame in 2019, a promising start for the Bond film.

No time to die UK advanced ticket sales are the largest in the country since Avengers: Endgame. The upcoming James Bond film was the first major studio blockbuster to be delayed at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, and its release date has been pushed back several times over the past year. Now, No time to die is finally ready for its premiere. It opens in UK theaters on September 30, followed by its US debut on October 8.

While there is still a long way to go before the box office hits 2019 levels, this year has seen several encouraging signs that cinemas are on the road to recovery. More recently, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings broke Labor Day records, prompting Sony to relocate Venom: let there be carnage a week and other studios to stay put. Although Top Gun: Maverick moved in 2022, No time to die is one of the many fall / winter titles that remain on the program. And it looks like it’s going to be a big boost for theaters.

According to THR, advance ticket sales for No time to die are at one “almost unprecedented level of demand.” The Bond movie overtook Christopher Nolan’s Principle last year, and its performance so far is in fact similar to Avengers: Endgame. An anonymous UK theater channel manager explained to THR:

“Endgame was the last one that probably had the same palpable sense of ‘absolutely can’t be missed’ and there was a sense of urgency to see it ASAP.”

No time to die Craig

No time to die is star Daniel Craig’s last outing as 007, and the film is billed as the culmination of his entire tenure. Unlike previous obligations, where each installment functioned as a stand-alone adventure, No time to die is a definitive end to Craig’s more serialized storytelling. This adds a layer to its event movie feel, and especially in the UK the interest is going to be very high. It’s pleasantly surprising to see advanced ticket sales doing so well, and it’s promising for No time to die box office outlook. It will be interesting to see how high the real numbers are (not everyone feels safe going to the movies right now), but No time to die is about to get off to a good start.

James Bond is also expected to grab the world’s attention. Early No time to die domestic box office projections make it match the tastes of F9 and Shang-Chi, two of the biggest films of 2021. No time to die theatrical exclusivity could allow it to commercially display major numbers, as we have seen with free guy and the above Shang-Chi. The public can only see it on the big screen, which will increase the demand for tickets. It goes without saying No time to die the proceeds won’t be the same as if the film had been released before the pandemic, but MGM seems to be making the most of the situation.
