Talented filmmaker Murugadoss Arunasalam, known as AR Murugadoss, celebrates his 47th birthday on Saturday, September 24. Murugadoss started his career as assistant director of Ratchagan Praveen Gandhi. Then he worked as assistant director of SJ Surya for the film Kushi.
After working for several successful films, he made his directorial debut with the film 2001 Dheena, with Ajith Kumar, Suresh Gopi and Laila. The film was a huge box office hit. Since then he has worked with many main heroes in the Indian film industry including Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth, Vijay and Suriya.
Filmmaker Ace Murugadoss is celebrating his birthday today with wishes pouring in from all quarters. Not just the fans, many celebrities also took to their social media to wish the star. On her special day, let’s take a look at five of her box office hits.
Ramana was directed by Murugadoss, with Vijayakanth and Simran in the lead roles. The film received positive reviews from audiences, critics and became a blockbuster. The film was then remade in Telugu with Chiranjeevi, in Kannada with Vishnanuvardhan, in Bengali with Mithun Chakraborty and in Hindi with Akshay Kumar.
Ghajini was released in Tamil in 2005. The film starred Suriya, Asin, Nayanthara in the lead roles. The action thriller received critical acclaim and became one of the biggest box office hits. Ghajini is considered one of the best Murugadoss films. It was remade in Bollywood starring Aamir Khan of the same name and became the first Hindi film to break the 100 crore rupee mark at the box office.
Murugadoss and Thalapathy Vijay’s first film to work together was Thuppakki. In the midst of high expectations, Thuppakki released in 2012 and broke box office records. It was Vijay’s first 100 crore club at the box office, and it took the actor’s market to the next level.
After the resounding success of Thuppakki, Vijay and AR Murugadoss have teamed up again to Kaththi. The film revolved around a crook and a social activist. Kaththi also stars Samantha Akkineni and Neil Nitin Mukesh in lead roles. The film then went through Rs. 130 crore at the box office, according to International Business Times.
The 2018 film starred Vijay and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles. Directed by Murugadoss, and also includes Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Radha Ravi, Pala. Karuppiah, Yogi Babu and Livingston play important roles. Sarkar became one of the biggest box office hits of the year.
